John established ImagInsight as a family portrait photography business in 2003. It operates from a shared studio established by John at the Abbotsford Convent Arts Precinct in 2006 with image processing and general business functions at 270 McKean Street, Fitzroy North. The business is based on a significant ongoing investment in the latest high end digital equipment and software.

John graduated from the International College of Commercial Photography in South Melbourne in 2003 after an extensive career in accounting and information technology, culminating in eleven years as a management consulting partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world’s largest professional services organization.

John is an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and an active participant in its professional development program. His photographic business has evolved into the corporate sector to embrace executive portraiture, annual reports, events and products, where his extensive business management and consulting experience add value to assignments beyond the basic capture of the image.

In his leisure time, John pursues artistic landscape and documentary photography projects. John’s landscape images have won nine Silver awards at the past three annual AIPP competitions and thirteen Bronze awards at the last two annual NZIPP competitions. He held his first solo exhibition of forty framed prints - "China: beyond the icons" - at the Chinese Museum in Melbourne during the 2007 Chinese New Year. Outside of photography John runs (around 200km per month), plays golf (not so well), cooks, ponders the odd glass of red, mentors to disadvantaged young people through the Melbourne City Mission Slingshot program, and is a board member of the Rotary Club of Melbourne (Australia’s oldest and largest) and, of course, the Club photographer.
